Casa RJ

Dwelling for a second home which in the future can become the main home.

The building main volume is located in the second half of the plot, in a middle way, so that the establishment permits the use of the first half in the plot as an outdoors space and the use of the back of the plot for more discreet activities.

The volume will be built 20 cm above the ground level, in order to preserve it from rainwater, as well as for the volumetric set of the project.

Main visuals considered are those outdoor spaces in the plot which have been generated by the building implantation and volumetry, and where the main interior spaces are focused on. The arrangement is suggested all on one floor, where the kitchen, the living and dining room, the storage and a porch conform the day area, and two bathrooms, three bedrooms and a second porch conform the night area.

Wood is a natural, ecological and renewable product, as well as a great thermal and acoustic insulation and a regulating humidity. To construct this dwelling it has been used red Finnish pine, extracted from controlled and reforested forests, in the structure as well as in facades and partitions. Thermal insulation used is recycled cellulose, coming from newspaper.

The building has been realized by passive architecture criteria. Air extraction and air entrance are made by a double flow system that ensures the foul air extraction in the kitchen and bathrooms. At the same time, it gets new air from the outside and insufflates it to the bedrooms and to the living room. New air and foul air are filtrated. New air enters home warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
